About Aneta Langerová

A singer and songwriter who would not get the chance to show the pop music public her skills in the latter until her second album, Aneta Langerová initially came to prominence as winner of the 2004 edition of the Czech Republic's version of the television reality talent show Pop Idol -- in this case (and locale) called Cesko Hleda SuperStar. Born on November 26, 1986, in Benesov, Czechoslovakia, Langerová was a national name at the age of 17, and in the wake of her television win, released her first album, Spousta Andelu, in late 2004. While the album -- a collection of songs and work by outside songwriters and producers -- would go on to be the country's best-selling album ever, Langerová was relatively unhappy with the product, as it didn't properly reflect her musical and arranging skills. Langerová began her interest in music as a small child, first learning piano and then guitar, and by the age of 14 was part of a band called Sazava. A handful of smaller regional television talent shows were won, and in 2004 Langerová found herself on top in the aforementioned national pop star talent search. Following the album release and the win, Langerová spent much of the next two years touring, eventually settling down to begin work on her sophomore release. The next album, Dotyk, would feature not only her singing and guitar talents but also feature her work on bass and piano, and Langerová either wrote or co-wrote all of the tracks contained within. The new formula for Langerová worked, as the album peaked at number two on the Czech charts. ~ Chris True
