Singer-songwriter Anna Clendening braved anxiety and depression to audition for America’s Got Talent in 2014 and subsequently launched her career with the hit single “To My Parents.” • As a teen growing up in North Carolina, Clendening was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. While battling with her mental health, she found solace in music. • After dropping out of college, Clendening began making music again. She uploaded acoustic song covers to Vine and quickly became one of the most followed users on the app. • An acoustic rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” earned Clendening a spot on America’s Got Talent in 2014. She advanced to the quarterfinals. • In 2016, Clendening went viral with her debut single, “To My Parents,” a relatable apology song that racked up millions of streams across platforms. • Three years later, Clendening released her debut EP, Waves. The lead single, “Boys Like You,” went gold. • After signing to Atlantic Records, Clendening delivered Evolve in 2020. Its lead single, “Get Me,” was an exploration of her growth throughout her mental health journey.
