About Anna McClellan

An indie pop singer/songwriter with a distinctly plainspoken, introspective approach, Anna McClellan emerged from the U.S. Midwest with her first album, Fire Flames, in 2015. That led to a record deal with Father/Daughter Records, which put out subsequent releases including her third long-player, 2020's I saw first light. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, McClellan began performing her piano-based songs locally at age 17. Her debut album, Fire Flames, appeared on tape label Majestic Litter in 2015. Its quirky, dissatisfied songs and intimate band arrangements made a fan of Greta Kline, who invited her to tour in support of her band, Frankie Cosmos. Father/Daughter Records took note and signed McClellan, issuing her second full-length, Yes and No, in 2018. In the meantime, the songwriter briefly relocated to New York but returned to Omaha before recording her third album with local musicians and friends. The resulting I saw first light arrived on Father/Daughter in late 2020. ~ Marcy Donelson
