About Baked

Playing an amped-up breed of indie rock that sounds by turns speedy and buzzy, Baked is a band led by R.J. Gordon, also known as the bassist with Titus Andronicus. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Gordon launched Baked in 2012 with the online release of a slow, droney demo track titled "8er." In July 2013, Baked gave "8er" a physical release as the B-side of a cassette single, with a more concise new track, "Wet Blanket," headlining. By August 2014, Gordon and his cohorts in Baked were running a performance space in Brooklyn, and had put out their first full-length album. Debt, released by Exploding in Sound Records, found Gordon (on lead vocals and guitar) joined by guitarist Davey Jones, bassist Jeremy Aquilino, keyboardist and singer Isabella Mingione, and drummer Yoni David. Baked toured in support of the album, sharing stages with Lost Boy ? and Bueno, and playing a handful of dates in which Gordon did double duty, opening the show with Baked and headlining with Titus Andronicus. In February 2017, Baked returned with a new album, Farnham. Titled in honor of a college friend of Gordon's who lost his battle with cancer, Farnham also introduced a new lineup of Baked, with Gordon and Aquilino joined by new members Steve Hartlett (guitar), Isabella Mingione (keyboards and vocals), and A.J. Pantaleo (drums). ~ Mark Deming
