About Brennley Brown
Brennley Brown became a bit of sensation in the spring of 2017 thanks to her run on the 12th season of The Voice, where she just missed the finals but established herself as a country singer whose powerful voice belied her 15 years. The Voice helped elevate Brown's profile, but she had been working steadily since she was seven, scoring achievements on talent show circuits and working behind the scenes in Hollywood.
Brown was born on January 24, 2002 in Apple Valley, California. She fell in love with music at an early age, using it as therapy when she learned that her mother was ill with Lyme carditis. By the age of five, she'd played her first talent show and when she was seven, she turned professional, concentrating on musical theater. At the age of nine, she performed as a guest soloist at the U.S. Open held at Arthur Ashe Stadium -- she would perform at this event three years in a row -- and not long afterward, Disney, DreamWorks, and Nickelodeon hired her for voice-over work. By the age of 11, she was part of an Ovation Award-winning production of Parade, and she also began writing original songs that reflected her love of country music. Brown's career started to pick up momentum in the mid-2010s, as she received a credited speaking role on Nickelodeon's Shimmer and Shine TV show in 2015, the same year she performed the National Anthem at a rally for Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson. In 2016, she landed the plum role of Lily the Good Witch on Disney's animated series Sofia The First, and she also appeared on Season 11 of America's Got Talent. Brown was eliminated in the first round but she hit the jackpot at her next attempt at a televised talent show. She was selected for the 12th season of The Voice and as it aired in early 2017, she became a favorite of the viewers, making it to the semi-finals. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
