About Carey Bell

Chicago bluesman Carey Bell was one of the finest harmonica players of his generation. The Mississippi-born musician moved to Chicago in the 1950s, but could only find work as a bassist at first. In the ‘60s, he finally began to become known for his harp playing. Bell played with fellow harp greats Junior Wells, James Cotton, and Billy Branch on the classic 1990 album HARP ATTACK. He worked extensively with his guitarist son Lurrie over the years, and in the 2000s they released a number of successful duo albums together. The harmonica giant passed away in 2007 at the age of 70.
