About Christian Blackshaw

British pianist Christian Blackshaw attended the King's School, Macclesfield, and pursued further studies at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Gordon Green. He later studied with Moisei Halfin at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, and also worked with Clifford Curzon. He has appeared with many major orchestras, such as the London Philharmonic, The Hallé, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Mariinsky Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic, the Dresden Staatskapelle, and others. He has also performed chamber music with members of the London Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and he has performed at many festivals across Europe, notably the Hellens Music Festival, of which he is the artistic director. He has recorded on the Wigmore Hall Live label. ~ Blair Sanderson
