About Don Grusin
American composer, arranger, producer, pianist, and educator Don Grusin is an accomplished Grammy Award-winning musician with a bent toward crossover styles of music from jazz to pop with a specific interest in the music of Brazil and Latin America. The younger brother of pianist Dave Grusin, Grusin originally avoided music (not wanting to be in his brother's shadow), becoming an economics professor. An offer to join Quincy Jones' band for a tour of Japan and the U.S. led Grusin to pursue music full-time, and by the late '70s he was an in-demand freelance and studio musician. Grusin continues to perform, record, and produce, and even brings together his experience in economics, music, film, ethnography, journalism, and art for a course he teaches at the University of Colorado. ~ Matt Collar
