A moody and stylish pop singer/songwriter who cites Lorde as a primary inspiration, FLETCHER first gained attention for "War Paint," a digital single that went viral in the summer of 2015. She debuted on the Billboard pop genre charts in 2019 with "Undrunk."
Born Cari Elise Fletcher in Asbury Park, New Jersey, on March 19, 1994, the singer/songwriter fell in love with music as a child, taking vocal lessons when she was five years old. Upon graduating from high school, her first big break in the music industry arrived when she competed on the premiere season of the American version of The X Factor in 2011, performing as a member of the group Lakoda Rayne. Later, she enrolled at the Clive Davis Institute at New York University. After a year and a half of study, she took a leave of absence to move to Nashville to collaborate with producer/songwriter Jamie Kenney. With an EP finished, she headed back to school, during which time the single "War Paint" went viral in 2015, racking up millions of plays on streaming services. She capitalized on its success by releasing the Finding Fletcher EP in 2016.
Over the next two years, FLETCHER continued to focus on singles, releasing "You Should Talk" in late 2017, followed a year later by "I Believe You," a song inspired by the #MeToo movement. In January 2019, she returned with "Undrunk." Featuring production by Malay (Frank Ocean, Lorde), the single landed in the Top 20 of Billboard's Pop Songs and Mainstream Top 40 charts.
