Grit Boys

About Grit Boys

Championed by Paul Wall and named by the late rapper HAWK, Grit Boys are a hardcore crew from Houston, TX. Members Poppy, Scooby, and Unique met while attending Houston's Worthing High School. After an appearance on Lil O's 2000 album Da Fat Rat wit da Cheeze, the group began working closely with HAWK, landing on nearly all of his mixtapes. When HAWK passed in 2006, Paul Wall stepped in and featured the crew on his mixtapes On the Grind and G-Boy Fresh, the latter with DJ Smallz. In 2007 they hit the mixtape circuit one more time with their own The Hood's Last Hope. That same year they made their aboveground debut when TVT released Ghetto Reality in Texas. Paul Wall, Bun B, and U.K. rapper Dizzee Rascal all made guest appearances. ~ David Jeffries
