About Blu Cantrell

Grammy-nominated R&B singer Blu Cantrell is best known for her 2001 smash “Hit ’Em Up Style (Oops!).” • The daughter of a jazz singer, Cantrell worked her way up from doing background gigs for P. Diddy and Gerald Levert to being a protegé of Teddy Riley and earning her own solo recording contract. • Her first album, So Blu, arrived in 2001 and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. The single “Hit ‘Em Up Style (Oops!)” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. • Cantrell’s 2003 sophomore album, Bittersweet, includes the single “Breathe,” which spawned a remix featuring Sean Paul. The track proved only a minor hit in the US, but it reached No. 1 in the UK. The album earned Cantrell a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album.
