About León Larregui

Latin psych-pop rocker León Larregui balances his creative energies between fronting the Grammy Award-winning alt-rock band Zoé and crafting hits as a successful solo artist. ∙ Before he was a rock star, Larregui was one of the lead actors in the music video for Shakira’s 1997 chart-topping single, “Se Quiere, Se Mata.” ∙ In 1997, he became the frontman for the Mexican alt-rock band Zoé, which won two Latin Grammy Awards in 2011 as well as the Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album Grammy in 2019. ∙ After 15 years fronting Zoé, Larregui released his debut solo album, 2012’s Solstis, which went double-Platinum on the success of the hit singles “Brillas” and “Como Tú (Magic Music Box).” ∙ He was nominated for two honors at the 2013 Latin Grammy Awards: Best Alternative Music Album (Solstis) and Best Alternative Song (“Brillas”). ∙ During Spanish rock icon Enrique Bunbury’s 2015 episode of MTV Unplugged, he invited Larregui out as a guest vocalist on “La Chispa Adecuada.” ∙ His sophomore solo LP, Voluma, was named one of Billboard’s 10 Best Latin Albums of 2016, and the music video for its lead single, “Locos,” has been viewed almost 170 million times.
