About Jonathan Feldman
Jonathan Feldman is one of America's leading chamber music and accompaniment pianists. He studied at Juilliard School of music with Dorothy Taubman, Rosetta Goodkind, and Irwin Freundlich. He joined the faculty of Juilliard School in 1989 and has become the head of the Accompanying Department. Feldman is heavily in demand as an accompanist, particularly to string players. He has worked with Nathan Milstein, Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Kyung Wha Chung, Zara Nelsova, Sara Chang, and the Kavafian sisters, Ani and Ida. He frequently joins members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and New York Philharmonic in chamber music concerts, and has toured with the Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble in tours of four continents. He is a frequent participant in the Tanglewood, Bridgehampton, and Music from Angel Fire Festivals. He gives master classes at various locations throughout the U.S., and lectured on "The Collaborative Pianist" at the William Kapell Competition and the Maryland International Piano Festival. He has played on releases for EMI, Cala, Columbia, Naxos, Nonesuch, RCA, and Summit labels, and in 2000 appeared on the Deutsche Grammophon label with Gil Shahan in an album of short classical violin works with some connection to the Devil, including the premiere recording of a suite from The Witches of Eastwick by John Williams. He lives in New Jersey with his wife, Judith LeClaire (principal bassoonist of the New York Philharmonic) and their son.
