About King Monada

King Monada, born Khutso Steven Kgatle in Tzaneen, Limpopo, is a music producer and hitmaker known for his Khelobedu house style, his Auto-Tuned singing, and the comedic lyrics that he complements with fluid dance moves—a reminder of his past life as a dancer. His productions, which are influenced by the Bacardi house sound made famous by artists like DJ Mujava and Bojo Mujo, sit somewhere between mzansi soul and house music, while his lyrics are a collection of tales he gathers while hanging out with working-class folks in the street and in taverns. Monada fuses synth pads, live guitars, infectious melodies, and off-kilter drum sequencing in his upbeat songs. Since breaking out with “Ska Bhora Moreki” from his debut album Molamo in 2016, he’s collaborated with scene contemporaries like Master KG and Makhadzi, and crossed over to make bangers with artists in the hip-hop/R&B and amapiano scenes, including Tshego and Kabza De Small.
