La'Britney Franklin, aka LaBritney, had been releasing assertive pop-R&B and rap for several years when she reached a broader audience on the fifth season of the reality television series Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood (2018). A singer and songwriter as well as a dancer who has appeared in numerous music videos, Franklin issued her first independent singles, including the energized "Look@Chu" and "Show Me Something," and the high-gloss "Ride," in 2011 and 2012. After appearing in the video for Ashanti's 2014 single "I Got It," she returned to the studio and resumed her recording career with "How We Do" in 2016. Several singles, highlighted by "Booty Drop," arrived throughout the next year. In early 2018, she released "Actin' Funny," featuring fellow Detroiter Kash Doll, and a few months later increased her profile as a cast member of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. Shortly thereafter, Franklin released a seven-track EP, La'vintage, which contained "Actin' Funny" and mixed other previously released tracks with new material. ~ Andy Kellman
