About Louis Landon

A pianist and composer, Louis Landon is known for his uplifting instrumental jazz and new age music. The Arizona-based Steinway Artist has composed for films and commercials, as well as released his own albums, including 2011's Reality Not Fantasy, 2015's Healing Hearts, Volume 2: Solo Piano, and 2020's Panama Piano. Born in Yonkers, New York, Landon grew up in Studio City, California, where his father, Leo De Lyon, worked as a voice actor appearing on shows like Top Cat, The Flintstones, Bewitched, and more. He began playing piano around age five and was soon excelling at classical repertoire. As a teenager, he further expanded his interests, playing guitar and keyboards in rock bands. Following high school, he studied music at both Stony Brook University and Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he pursued his interest in jazz. It was while in Boston that he met saxophonist John Payne. For much of the mid- to late '70s, he toured and recorded as a member of Payne's fusion ensemble. He also relocated to New York and formed his own fusion group, Nightfire. There were also tours with John Hall, Rupert Holmes, Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers, and others. Settling in Sedona, Arizona, Landon eventually founded his own production company and shifted gears from touring towards writing music for film and commercial use. He also began releasing his own instrumental jazz and new age albums, beginning with 1994's Love Songs & Jazz. More albums followed, including 1999's Feel This, 2004's The Gershwins, Cole Porter & Me, and 2007's Peace Revolution. In addition, he has recorded a number thematic albums, including 2010's Peaceful Christmas Solo Piano, 2014's Healing Piano of Sedona for Massage Yoga & Relaxation, and 2020's Thanksgiving Piano. Also in 2020, he released Panama Piano, which was inspired by a road trip he took through that country. ~ Matt Collar
