About Mass Solo Revolt

Indie rock band Mass Solo Revolt were formed in Athens, GA, by Martin Brummeler (guitar) and James Frye (bass). Both had moved to Athens from Ypsilanti, MI, where their previous bands, Data Cadet and Propeller, had released records. The third member of the original trio making up Mass Solo Revolt was Tim Terilli. They recorded their first album, The Sap, in 2005, but it was not released until December 2007 by Community Billygoat Records. By the time of the self-released second album, Easy Mark, released on July 1, 2008, the group consisted of Brummeler, Frye, Derek Burdette (guitar, keyboards), and Russ Sherman (drums), although the playing on the album had been almost solely by Brummeler, joined only by Frye on one track and a couple of session drummers. In fact, it had been released previously as a Brummeler solo album. ~ William Ruhlmann
