About Matisyahu
Matisyahu is the Hebrew and stage name of American Jewish reggae singer/rapper Matthew Miller, best known for the 2005 hit “King Without a Crown.” ∙ Inspired by the music of Bob Marley and Buju Banton, he began fusing reggae and hip-hop with spiritual themes after jamming with guitarist Adam Dugan at a menorah-lighting ceremony. ∙ Matisyahu’s breakthrough came in 2005 via his second album, the high-energy Live At Stubb’s, which featured the hit version of “King Without a Crown.” ∙ Youth, his second studio full-length, peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Reggae Album in 2006. ∙ “One Day,” Matisyahu’s uplifting anthem of peace and positivity, was a massive hit in Israel in 2009. ∙ He cowrote and sang “Can’t Catch Me,” a track from Avicii’s hit 2015 album, Stories. ∙ The hip-hop- and rock-oriented Undercurrent, from 2017, was his highest-charting album since Youth, peaking at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 chart.
