About Matt Citron

Georgia's Matt Citron is a gifted rapper and singer known for his passionate, East Coast-meets-Deep South hip-hop sound. Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1995, Citron grew up in a family with parents who had relocated from New York. Prior to hip-hop, he initially favored sports, a talent that found him playing basketball throughout high school. During this time, he also cultivated an abiding love of hip-hop, listening to such artists as Ludacris, OutKast, Dipset, and others. Hanging out with his friends, he began writing and freestyling his own raps, casually developing his style. After high school, a basketball scholarship brought him first to South Carolina. However, wishing to get closer to the New York hip-hop scene, Citron transferred to Adelphi University on Long Island, where he balanced school and basketball with trips into Manhattan for hip-hop shows. After suffering a torn retina during a pickup basketball game, Citron decided to focus his energies on music. He moved back to Atlanta and immersed himself in the local hip-hop scene, eventually catching the ear of producer/manager/radio personality Greg Street, who began helping him build his career. With Street's guidance, Citron developed a distinctive mix of East Coast and Southern hip-hop influences, showcased on such early singles as "Tabasco Flows" and "Tabasco Flows, Pt. 2." In 2016, he released his debut full-length album, Final Moments of Forever. Included on the album was the lead single "Stay Down," featuring production from Buckwild's DITC and J-Rob. ~ Matt Collar
