About Monica Lisa Stevenson

An active touring and recording gospel artist with a muscular voice, Monica Lisa Stevenson was born Monica Felicia Bowen in Wetumpka, Alabama on April 21, 1967. The eldest of six children, Monica was encouraged in both music and faith by her parents. After marrying the gospel musician Derrick Stevenson, Monica relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where they became members of the New Life International Family Church and the Gospel Music Workshop of America. (She also adopted the name Monica Lisa Stevenson.) Monica became a licensed minister, and she established the group Lisa Stevenson & Company in 1997. Her debut album, Finally...In God's Time, was released in 2009, and it earned her Stellar Award nominations in the categories of Best New Artist and Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year. After an appearance in the movie Madea's Big Happy Family, she released Live in Atlanta in 2013, which rose to number 14 on the Gospel Albums chart. In April 2016 Stevenson released "Testimony," a single previewing her Kainos (The Acoustic Documentary) EP, which arrived the following September via eOne Music. Stevenson supported the EP with a 50-city tour, playing churches across the United States. ~ Andy Kellman
