About Mt. Eden

Known for their potent, downtempo-infused electronic productions, New Zealand-born/Brooklyn-based duo Mt. Eden (aka Mt. Eden Dubstep and MtEdenDnB08) burst onto the international dance scene after their track "Sierra Leone" went viral in 2009. Featured in the duo are producers/DJs Jesse Cooper and Harley Rayner, who named the project after their hometown of Mt. Eden, Auckland, New Zealand. Friends since they were about ten years of age, Cooper and Rayner grew up sharing music and mixtapes on their computers, and by their teens were working on creating their own electronic tracks, influenced by the work of Benga, Skream, Skrillex, and others. Around 2009, they posted the track "Sierra Leone" (a remix of Freshly Ground's "I'd Like") online, and it quickly went viral. From there they began playing live, and continued to build a loyal following. Signing with Ultra Music, they delivered two well-received mini-albums, 2010's Meds EP and 2013's Walking on Air EP. They also remixed tracks by Six60, Delerium, Ruby Frost, DJ Fresh, and more. Along with playing festivals around the globe, they eventually relocated to Brooklyn, New York. More singles followed, including "Blinded," "Distance Kills" featuring Nolita Knights, and "Stronger." ~ Matt Collar
