About North Mississippi Allstars

At the turn of the 21st century, brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson (sons of producer Jim Dickinson) with then-bassist Chris Chew issued Shake Hands with Shorty as the North Mississippi Allstars. The set presented an energetic new read on the music of their Hill Country region -- Delta blues, bluegrass, hip-hop, funk, ragtime, and rockabilly. It was nominated for a Grammy. Since then they have continued to deliver an astonishing diversity of styles and collaborations under an unapologetically muddy roots umbrella. 2005's Electric Blue Watermelon, 2008's chart-topping blues album Hernando, and 2013's World Boogie Is Coming were all globally celebrated for their rawness, intensity, and original presentation. 2017's Prayer for Peace (their first without Chew) exported rootsy acoustic blues as international folk music. 2022's swamp soul Set Sail included bassist Jesse Williams, horns and vocals by country singer Lamar Williams, Jr. and a guest spot by legendary soul singer William Bell.
