Paavali Jumppanen

About Paavali Jumppanen

Finnish pianist Paavali Jumppanen studied at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and the City of Basel Music Academy, where he received his performance diploma. He was the winner of the Maj Lind Piano Competition in 1994, and won the Young Concert Artists' International Auditions in New York in 2000. From 2003 to 2012, he was a pianist and chamber music lecturer at the Espoo Music Institute, and he was a guest lecturer at Harvard University's Department of Music from 2011 to 2012. He has also been the artistic director of the PianoEspoo Festival since 2015. Jumppanen is a concerto soloist and recitalist, and he has performed across Europe, North America, Japan, and Australia. His recordings have been released on Ondine, CPO, Milanollo, and Deutsche Grammophon. ~ Blair Sanderson
