About PeterLicht

Not unlike other German recording artists of the early 2000s, PeterLicht combined old-school indie songwriting with the bleeps and clicks of electro-pop, but his work's main appeal surely lies in the lyrics, subversively naïve and strangely humorous essays on politics, love, and life. His first collection of songs -- released in 2000 under the unlikely moniker Meinrad Jungblut -- failed to make a big splash, but just a few months later, the irresistibly weird single "Sonnendeck" came along and helped his first debut album, 14 Lieder, to unexpectedly healthy sales. His fame would grow over subsequent albums, but the artist avoided public exposure where he could, ordering TV camera men to steer clear of his face and photographers to only take pictures from behind.
