About Rebelution

Rebelution bring a distinctive flavor of mellow to California’s legendary reggae-rock community. Whereas their peers in Slightly Stoopid and The Expendables retain a sense of punky fun, Rebelution favor a significantly lusher sound, one infused with singer/songwriter Eric Rachmany’s tender reflections on life and love and grooves that ripple like cosmic vibrations. Having developed their chill style while attending the University of California, Santa Barbara, they had already been hitting the tour and festival circuits hard for three years by the time they dropped their debut full-length, 2007’s Courage to Grow. The title proved prophetic, as each successive record has found the act expanding their sound, all the while remaining faithful to reggae’s rootsy soul and deliciously liquid basslines. Rebelution proved this in a big way by following up 2014’s Count Me In, an idyllic beach soundtrack dusted with ’70s yacht rock, with 2016’s Grammy-nominated Falling into Place, an album boasting a sharp, modern pop edge. The group have even ventured into straight-up dub with 2020’s Dub Collection, a set that’s both trippy and deeply soothing—Rebelution wouldn’t have it any other way.
