sakanaction is an alternative rock band from Japan that has reached the Top 10 of the Oricon Singles Chart 11 times. ∙ Frontman Ichiro Yamaguchi was inspired to form the band in 2005 after hearing the song “Owari No Kisetsu” by rei harakami. ∙ sakanaction’s third album, 2009’s Shin-Shiro, was their first to reach the Top 10 of the Oricon Albums chart, peaking at No. 8. ∙ “Arukuaround,” their first big hit single, reached No. 3 on the Oricon Singles chart in 2010. ∙ In 2012, the band’s soundtrack for the manga series Bakuman received Outstanding Achievement in Music honors at the Japan Academy Film Prize awards. ∙ They topped the Oricon Album chart in 2013 with Sakanaction, which was iTunes Japan’s second-best-selling album of the year, behind Taylor Swift’s Red. ∙ 834.194, released in 2019, climbed to No. 2 on the Oricon Albums chart.
