The Sensational Alex Harvey Band

About The Sensational Alex Harvey Band

Formed in 1972 when veteran vocalist Alex Harvey teamed with struggling Glasgow group Tear Gas, the Sensational Alex Harvey Band followed a unique road to stardom combining elements of heavy rock, R&B, and the British music hall. Following the band's startling debut FRAMED and a period of frenetic gigging, a newfound confidence was became apparent, as evidenced by the band's sophomore effort NEXT... and its harrowing rendition of Jacques Brel’s title track. TSAHB’s irreverent reading of Tom Jones’ "Delilah" gave them a U.K. Top 10 hit, which was followed into the charts by "Boston Tea Party." But the relentless touring took its toll on Harvey, after being hospitalised with a liver problem he was forced to quit the band following 1977's ROCK DRILL. He died five years later.
