About Sly5thAve

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My Auntie teaching me to play Henri Mancini's Pink Panther Theme when I was 6/7. I had a super dope Casio Keyboard from the 80’s and for years it was the only song I knew but I loved it. Once I started playing sax, I immediately tried to recreate it. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Earth, Wind & Fire, I Am Kirk Whalum, The Gospel According to Jazz, Chapter 1 (Live) [feat. George Duke & Paul Jackson, Jr.] Parliament, Clones Of Dr. Funkenstein Those albums define my childhood and formative years learning the sax. I remember my parents showing me this music and getting completely carried away. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Early Morning” The first time I figured out what willpower can do - a skill learned from Quantic. While on tour, I had a last minute session. Players were thrown together, the pairing of instruments was uncommon, time was tight, but I came up with something dope. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing with Prince. I learned everything. Work ethic. Dedication. Showmanship. Style. All of it. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Work with Andre 3000, Pharrell, & Gustavo Dudamel—preferably in multiple projects.
