Biography

Use the word "organic" around hardcore party rap and you must be talking about the way the marijuana is grown, but East Bay California's Starting Six may be one of the few crews in the genre to have a truly organic rise to fame. Previously, only members Nic Nac and Big Steve had made beats with any professional intentions, but when they hooked up with their good friends and party buddies Goose, Bread, Riggz, and Fess, they cut a track called "Thirsty" to promote a party to family and friends, and the rest is viral history. Forwarded links meant that in a week there were 10,000 views, and as that number clicked into the hundreds of thousands — eventually crossing the one million mark — this party crew took the name Starting Six, just to start accepting some of the gig requests they were receiving. In 2011, they dropped their first official mixtape, Let's Talk About Six. A move to Los Angeles followed, and in 2012, they released the mixtape On Yo Beach.
