About Terror Squad

Founded by Bronx rapper Fat Joe, the powerhouse NYC hip-hop group Terror Squad made the whole world “Lean Back” with their 2004 smash of the same name. • The crew made its first appearance on Fat Joe’s 1998 Don Cartagena album. • In 1999, they unleashed their debut LP, Terror Squad: The Album, via Atlantic Records. It went Top 5 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. • Big Punisher died of a heart attack in 2000 at the age of 28. • The group rebounded in 2004 with new roster additions like gritty female rapper Remy Ma, singer Tony Sunshine, and a burgeoning DJ Khaled, then known as Beat Novacane. • Terror Squad’s second and final album, 2004’s True Story, was powered by the Scott Storch–produced “Lean Back.” Remy Ma and Fat Joe’s ubiquitous East Coast anthem reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
