Drums and percussion struck me like a lightning bolt when I was in elementary school and tapped on a snare drum they kept in the cafeteria. Ever since that time, I have lived a life of rhythm, and it has taken me multiple times around the globe. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? John McLaughlin, Remember Shakti: Saturday Night In Bombay (Live) Max Roach, We Insist! Max Roach's Freedom Now Suite (2022 Remaster) Zakir Hussain, Zakir Hussain and The Rhythm Experience These albums are like my North Star, combining my love of world music and American jazz. These are the albums that I would take with me to a desert island. These great artists always inspire my musical work. Tell us why you chose this song. “Ra of Sunshine” This song captures my varied love of jazz grooves, Indian raga, and Brazillian caxixi. It is a duet with myself using a drumset and an amazing electronic device ATV aFrame drum. I hope you might like it as well. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I have been fortunate to travel the world as a cultural envoy for the U.S. Department of State. I have been able to experience how music and sound cut through barriers such as political divides, cultural differences, and religion.
