About Vashawn Mitchell

VaShawn Mitchell is a veteran gospel singer-songwriter who crossed over into the R&B mainstream in 2010. ∙ Hired when he was 20, Mitchell was the youngest-ever Minister of Music for the historic 1,500-seat Sweet Holy Spirit Church of Chicago. ∙ His 2010 release Triumphant was nominated for the Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album Grammy Award. ∙ Billboard named “Nobody Greater,” which reached No. 18 on the Adult R&B chart, the most played gospel single from 2011, and the track was certified Gold in 2019. ∙ Released in 2012, his Created4This album broke into the Billboard 200. ∙ In 2013, Mitchell was a judge for the seven-city How Sweet the Sound gospel competition tour. ∙ Mitchell’s songs have been recorded by his contemporaries such as Lonnie Hunter (“God Will Take Care of You”) and Lucinda Moore (“Already Done”).
