What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street. What does the nervous system of the lowly lobster have to tell us about standing up straight (with our shoulders back) and about success in life? Why did ancient Egyptians worship the capacity to pay careful attention as the highest of gods? What dreadful paths do people tread when they become resentful, arrogant, and vengeful? Dr. Peterson journeys broadly, discussing discipline, freedom, adventure, and responsibility, distilling the world's wisdom into 12 practical and profound rules for life. 12 Rules for Life shatters the modern commonplaces of science, faith, and human nature while transforming and ennobling the mind and spirit of its listeners.
Audio Qulaity is Poor! The one on Audible is fine.
I want to buy this audiobook, but the audio quality is poor. There is a twingy, rattling sound (over-modulation if you care to know) that makes it very dificult to concentrate on what is being said. I really prefer audiobooks, but I guess I will have to stick with a standard book or eBook for this one. Sorry guys :( Let me know if a new version is released. I just checked and found that the version on Audible does not have this issue. I may try there instead.
A must read
JBP is one of the greatest minds of our time. His ability to articulate never ceases to amaze me. He will help you learn about things you already know, but you didn’t know that you knew them, or at least why you know them. A wonderful balance of biology, anthropology, theology, and psychology, JBP will take you on a journey that is informative, humorous, and incredibly insightful. Do yourself and everyone else a favor and pick this one up.
One of the most important books to read
As a liberal atheist vegan I found this book to be amazingly well written, well narrated and impossible to put down. I heard about the author on the news and he was depicted as ‘the darling of the right wing’ so I of course looked him up on YouTube only to find that he is neither liberal or conservative. I would describe him as very intelligent with some very important things to share. If you drop your ideology and listen you will come away a better person for reading or listening to this book. It changes you. I am still a liberal atheist vegan but I have much more respect for what the Bible attempts to teach and I am always happier if we discuss the way things really are and not pretend they are otherwise. There are powerful truths if you dare to listen.
