Having completed the two cycles of legend to which she has devoted her career so far, Anne Rice gives us now her most ambitious and courageous book, a novel about the early years of Christ the Lord, based on the Gospels and on the most respected New Testament scholarship. The book's power derives from the passion its author brings to the writing and the way in which she summons up the voice, the presence, the words of Jesus who tells the story.

I am not religious person a lapsed catholic, i never did get that first miracle of the wedding and the wine ,it seemed trivial to me that no matter how much Jesus loved his mom , and of all the good he could have done with that very first miracle he used it for wine , it has always bugged me . Until this book gave me such insight such clarity of time and place ,my heart was opened i could relate to any war torn place where rumours rule and narrow mindedness dictates the social norms . It is read so wonderfully that I felt I was present with Jesus and could see why and how he would have come to make this his first miracle of blessing this wedding wine so that there was suffient for everyone , symbollising the blood of his father .
