The intrepid spies, pilots, and sharpshooters of Wraith Squadron are back in an all-new Star Wars adventure, which transpires just after the events of the Fate of the Jedi series! Three decades have passed since Wraith Squadron carried out its last mission. Taking on the most dangerous and daring operations, the rogues and misfits of the elite X-Wing unit became legends of the Rebellion and the Second Galactic Civil War, before breaking up and going their separate ways. Now their singular skills are back in vital demand - for a tailor-made Wraith Squadron mission. A powerful general in the Galactic Alliance Army, once renowned for his valor, is suspected of participating in the infamous Lecersen Conspiracy, which nearly toppled the Alliance back into the merciless hands of the Empire. With orders to expose and apprehend the traitor - and license to do so by any and all means - the Wraiths will become thieves, pirates, impostors, forgers...and targets, as they put their guts, their guns, and their riskiest game plan to the test against the most lethal of adversaries.
WOW!! GREAT BOOK
I am already a huge fan of Star Wars. A few years back I finally bought my first audio book. I started with the X -wing series.
I loved all of those stories. From Time to time I replay them over again and listen. My favorite from the first 6 of the x-wing books was always the Bacta War. But after listening to Mercy Kill. I have a new favorite. While the story is focused on
"Wraith Squadron" It really does not disappoint. Old characters and new ones. You will love them all. They really captured that crazy group feel that the original Wraiths had and the author did a great job in keeping me guessing to the end. In my humble opinion it is wonderful. You will enjoy it.
If you are wondering if you should listen to the first 6 novels first. Now that I think about it the first 6 novels and from New Jedi order Rebel Dream and Rebel stand. It will not take away from your enjoyment. I personally found it more enjoyable since references to old characters and moments are tossed in. But It is a great story. ENJOY and PLEASE MAKE MORE X-WING NOVELS.
It will have to grow on me
I have listened to a bunch of Star Wars audio books and love them all. I especially appreciate Marc Thompson's skills with characters.
This book however, is my first without any of the original characters except for a guest appearance by Wedge Antilles. I enjoy the book, but, it left me wanting for that Skywalker/Solo feel.
However, there had to be other action going on besides Skywalker/Solo adventures, so, I would call this a good segway from the original characters and let us know some of the things going on around the rest of the universe.
If this is a series I'll buy another.
