Description

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that makes for a thrilling listening experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets 16-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

One Word-Breathtaking!

Could not put this book down! I finished it in one day! It was a rainy day, created the perfect atmosphere for this chilling, eerie, magical tale. The vintage photographs of which the entire story is built around were fascinating. It looks as if the adventure will continue.... and I can't wait for the next book. Riggs is a detailed author that leaves no stone unturned. The story was heartfelt, scary, schocking, suspenseful. I literally gasped at times, looked away from the book at other times, and at the end had to have the kleenex box near. Trust me dont delay buy this book and expereince the "loops"!!!!!!

Might be better if read and not listened to.

I found this book a tad slow and a bit boring with an abrupt ending (even though I think the author is leaving it open for a series of books) but I can't help but wonder if that wasn't due to the fact that I found the narrator quite lacking. Jesse Bernstein was unable to do any of the accents that the story called for and what he created couldn't even be called passable. At one point while trying to do an Irish accent it came off more Middle-Eastern. In order to make up for the short comings with the accents the narrator chose to slow down and over annunciate causing the characters to often come off as slow witted. I would not recommend this audio book but after the initial positive reviews again, can't help but wonder if I made a mistake by not picking up the print version.

Terrible

Great book ! But this audio book did not give me the full book only to chapter 6! Waste of money!
