This is so well done! Brilliant!
For long car rides I love an audiobook & as a fan of The Princess Bride I thought I'd give this one a shot. I am sooooo glad I did. The way Carey Elwes tells these stories along with other cast members is flawless. The cast stories and behind the scene fun facts was entertaining to say the least. The attention to detail made it easy to picture the scene. I especially loved the chapter on storming the castle and its focus on Andre the Giant. Rather, The Gentle Giant. You could feel the respect and love this cast has for each other. Carey's compassion, enthusiasm and wit shined through and his cadence was perfection. I laughed so hard during one chapter I had to pull the car over. I can't wait to watch the movie again with the insight I've now gained. How they prepared for the greatest sword fight, how casting was done, what the writer thought of the process, how Rob Reiner was as a director and much more. Brilliant fun! Just brilliant.
This is my favorite movie, so I loved this book! I loved that he included the memories of his Princess Bride family as well. Added bonus!
Exactly as delightful as a fan would hope
I have rarely derived as much joy and satisfaction from any memoir, or any book at all for the matter, as I did from listening to Cary Elwes reading his own audiobook about the making of one of my favorite movies, The Princess Bride. It's such a delight to learn that the making of the film was exactly as much fun and as exciting as one would hope from watching it. I laughed or smiled every minute while listening. It was over too soon.
