A panoramic experience that tells the story of Beastie Boys, an audiobook as unique as the band itself. Formed as a New York City hardcore band in 1981, Beastie Boys struck an unlikely path to global hip hop superstardom. Here is their story, told for the first time in the words of the band. Adam “ADROCK” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond offer revealing and very funny accounts of their transition from teenage punks to budding rappers. For more than 30 years, this band has had an inescapable and indelible influence on popular culture. With a style as distinctive and eclectic as a Beastie Boys album, Beastie Boys Book upends the typical music memoir, featuring a collection of voices reminiscent of your favorite mixtape. New York was the internet before there was the internet.
Beasties, this is an amazing adventure of so much more than the 3 fellows.
Such great story telling in this.
Starting it again.... now
Sad & Happy
After listening for the past week I can’t express the feelings the book has given me. Like many others I’ve been a fan since LTI. 13 year old me was unknowingly forever changed. I grew up with the Beasties literally. They’ve been streaming in the background of every single part of my life for 30 years now and I’ll be a fan until the day I die. (My wife has even promised to play Beasties at my funeral)
Inside stories made me smile and laugh more than I have lately and for that I truly thank you guys. I can tell listening to you guys talk about MCA just how special and meaningful he was to you both and to everyone close to him. As a fan, I miss him as much as anyone can that didn’t personally know him. Also, as a fan who doesn’t personally know Mike and Adam (and mixmaster Mike) I love you guys and thank you guys for everything you’ve done. I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times but you influenced me heavily and I wouldn’t be who I am today without you guys.
I’ve been waiting months for this. 😎
