by Scott Westerfeld

Open iTunes to Buy

The behemoth is the fiercest creature in the British navy. It can swallow enemy battleships with one bite. The Darwinists will need it, now that they are at war with the Clanker powers. Deryn is a girl posing as a boy in the British Air Service, and Alek is the heir to an empire posing as a commoner. Finally together aboard the airship Leviathan, they hope to bring the war to a halt. But when disaster strikes the Leviathan's peacekeeping mission, they find themselves alone and hunted in enemy territory. Alek and Deryn will need great skill, new allies, and brave hearts to face what's ahead.

Customer Reviews

My God, he's done it again!

Scott Westerfeld presents us with the absolutely stunning, gripping, page turning sequel to the first book, "Leviathan". His cast of characters is still as vibrant, mysterious, adventurous, witty and courageous as before, with many new comers who have the means to up the ante. The plot itself draws upon the first book while still being fresh and new, continuing the escapades of Alek, Deryn and the crew of the Leviathan across Europe and the Mediterranean. Steampunk has always been an adventure, but never has it been so beautifully or skillfully portrayed as in Westerfeld's alternate history of WW1.

A little pricy as an Audio book, but Alan Cumming does a magnificent job with the accents and flow. Definitely worth the money for any steampunk fan!
