The inspiration for a major film releasing 2008 starring Emma Thompson and Michael Gambon. A study of faith and disillusionment in a glamorous upper-class world, Waugh’s most famous novel is partly autobiographical and is a gripping multi-character-study.
I need to read this book for a class and after trying to read it, I decided to cave and get the audiobook. I had read to page 169/350 in my book. After finding my spot in the recording, I was dismayed to find that within a minute of listening, the recording skips to page 219/350! I do not consider that 'abridged' especially since there are some major plot points in those 40 pages. It was confusing and very irritating, especially considering the price I paid for this audiobook. I cannot vouch for the quality of the recording since I actually need to understand the PLOT of the story.
This audiobook should be removed from sale. It is completely out of sequence and impossible to follow. The book should be put properly in order and remastered with a credit or complete refund offered to all those who purchased this edition. Note: the production itself is wonderful in every way - just not properly compiled or apparently proofed before publishing.
