New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Charlaine Harris has won an Anthony Award for her one-of-a-kind Sookie Stackhouse mystery series. Sookie, a Louisiana cocktail waitress, skilled telepath, and friend to vampires, has a dedicated fan base that grows larger every day. Because her mind-reading ability tends to spook people, most of Sookie's friends are of the not-exactly-human variety. And now that her brother is about to transform into a were-panther for the first time, the supernatural world is suddenly a family affair. When Sookie realizes a deadly sniper is gunning down the local changelings, her feelings turn to full-blown terror. She needs to stop the assassain before the next full moon...if he doesn't get to her first. With its delightfully quirky characters and delicious suspense, Dead as a Doornail is a vampire mystery readers will love sinking their fangs into.
This series is very cute and creative! Charlaine Harris does a wonderful job at blending genres: romance, fantasy, real-life, etc. Sookie is a smartly written, down to earth heroine, and Harris deserves more credit for this cute little series. It's terribly entertaining. I finished the series in two months, and I could seriously use some more Sookie stories.
I have listened to all the Charlaine Harris audio books. I started with #6 - #10 and then #1 - #5. I read all the books first but I found I enjoyed listening to the books read by Johanna Parker on my IPOD while I clean house. All of the books are narrated by Johanna Parker and this one is different. She is not using her southern voice and all the other voices for the characters and it is very disappointing. I don't know if she was sick or what but she really should re-do this audio recording. It sounds terrible and is not up to her usual flair.
Love the book and narrator but the recording sounds very fuzzy and muffled, compared to the first 4 audiobooks.
