A scientific experiment begins, and as the button is pressed, the unexpected occurs: everyone in the world goes to sleep for a few moments while everyone's consciousness is catapulted more than 20 years into the future. At the end of those moments, when the world reawakens, all human life is transformed by foreknowledge.
Excited to read/listen; new television adaptation coming soon
I'm a true lover of science fiction, especially anything like LOST. Well ABC has greenlit this fantastic sounding story to premiere just as LOST ends it's 6 year journey in May 2010. It will truly be a show us Losties will cherish almost as much as LOST itself. During airings of LOST now, you may see commercials with several quick images, then the text "What did you see?" comes up. That is for the new show coming soon. From what I've heard about this story, it's great: Scientist, specifically quantum physicists, are doing an experiment to try to find the "God" particle using a hadron-collider. (I may be wrong in my terminology, but that's the gist of it...). The main scientist hits the button at xx:00. When he does this, he wakes up in a different place, in a different time, looking like his father. Then after a few minutes, he wakes up on the floor of his workplace, dazed and confused. He finds his partner also on the floor, who says he experienced the same dream. It turns out not everyone who was there for the experiment; not everyone in the building, but the whole damn planet blacked out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. After questions and research, they came to the conclusion that they all somehow saw glimpses of their future - 30 years forward. Some people see themselves married with kids; others see themselves with completely different husbands/wives; some people see nothing at all, for in 30 years, they will have died. It is because of this flash forward that all of these people's lives become intertwined, and the mystery of what they saw and how they get there is only the beginning. I'll hopefully read/listen to this over the summer between college semesters, and will post my reaction to it then. **If you like LOST, then you WILL LIKE THIS!**
My favorite book by Robert Sawyer!
My favorite book
This is by far my favorite book. The show that started on ABC and was later on cancelled was very different from the book.
