Now, in this challenging and inspiring new book, Rachel exposes the 20 lies and misconceptions that too often hold us back from living joyfully and productively, lies we’ve told ourselves so often we don’t even hear them anymore. With painful honesty and fearless humor, Rachel unpacks and examines the falsehoods that once left her feeling overwhelmed and unworthy, and reveals the specific practical strategies that helped her move past them. In the process, she encourages, entertains, and even kicks a little butt, all to convince you to do whatever it takes to get real and become the joyous, confident woman you were meant to be. With unflinching faith and rock-hard tenacity, Girl, Wash Your Face shows you how to live with passion and hustle - and how to give yourself grace without giving up.
I thought this book was really good until i got to the chapter about sex. The author talks all throughout the book about not judging people or their decisions in any aspect of their life, “you don’t know what others are going through” kind of feel. She says flat out pornography is wrong, not that she feels or thinks that it’s wrong but that it is wrong, that people who watch it or are participating in it are wrong. Very quick way to lose credibility in an otherwise interesting take on female empowerment. Hopefully I can get my money back because I have no need to continue listening.
I’m over half way through this amazing book and I’ve laughed, cried and written down so many notes as I’ve listened. Two quotes that rocked me... Don’t break a promise to yourself and hustle for joy. I can’t wait to keep reading.
