A reissue of a Pulitzer prize-winning classic, and now the major motion picture GETTYSBURG. As a result of these acclamations, this book is considered one of the greatest novels written on the Civil War. From the Hardcover edition.

This book is well deserving of the Pulitzer Prize; the writing is excellent and it was like watching a movie in my mind. The insight to both sides is deep and I felt I lived the Civil War at Gettysburg from two perspectives. If you are not much of a Civil War buff, but want to learn a little more of the history on both sides, as well as learn about what happened at Gettysburg, then this book is for you.

I have also read that some readers didn't like the narration from Stephen Hoye. He does voices for all the generals mentioned but I liked it. With so many different characters, it is tough to keep them straight unless the voice intonation, accent change. After I got used to it, I appreciated his ability to voice all the characters.

It was one of the few historical books to actually keep me engaged.

Couldn't stop

In this instance the book and the 'audio' are equally perfect. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this after i'd read the original. What a pure joy this was and well done too. This is definitely worth the price of admission.
