Sunny Los Angeles can be a dark place indeed in Cassandra Clare's Lord of Shadows, the sequel to the New York Times and USA Today best-selling Lady Midnight. Lord of Shadows is a Shadowhunters novel. Emma Carstairs has finally avenged her parents. She thought she'd be at peace. But she is anything but calm. Torn between her desire for her parabatai, Julian, and her desire to protect him from the brutal consequences of parabatai relationships, she has begun dating his brother, Mark. But Mark has spent the past five years trapped in Faerie; can he ever truly be a Shadowhunter again? And the faerie courts are not silent. The Unseelie King is tired of the Cold Peace and will no longer concede to the Shadowhunters' demands. Caught between the demands of Faerie and the laws of the Clave, Emma, Julian, and Mark must find a way to come together to defend everything they hold dear - before it's too late.

Sooo goood

Sooo goood

With this book Clare "jumps the shark!" I have loved all her books, with the infernal devices being my favorite series. But with each book she seems to go further and further into trying to push every sexual lifestyle choice in front of the readers in an attempt to try and make everything seem normal and anyone who disagrees to seem evil and hateful!! Full disclosure I am a white heterosexual conservative male, having said that I bear no animosity towards anyone who chooses to live or is by genetic or choice something other than what I am. But the whole scene about Diana Rayburn being a transsexual was so unnecessary and Unimportant to the story but it felt just as though it was thrown in to score political points and push the authors personal agenda instead of adding to the story! But my biggest problem with this book was the fact that she took almost every single character in the book and made all of them completely unlikable she made them whiners or obnoxious selfish or irritating she left no one to root for! She took virtues and turn them into vices, vices and turn them into virtues! She made Julian's love of his family look psychotic and not to mention she made liars out of Julian and Emma who spent most of the book lying and miss treating each other and yet they loved each other, which makes absolutely no sense this book was just a mess from beginning to end! Which is truly sad because it showed potential to be the best one in the entire series but now will go down as just an awful Horrendous mistake and has probably ended any possibility for me to continue following her series of books. The reader does a truly excellent job too bad he was reading a book that was doomed from the beginning.

Horrible Sound That Goes Soft and Loud/Story Incomplete

Two problems: The narrator does not modulate his voice and most of the time you can’t hear it. Just when you think you’ve got the sound of the right amount of volume he blast your eardrums even though the script doesn’t call for a change in pitch. Absolutely awful. Impossible to listen to without pain.

For the cost of this book you’re going to get half a story. This ends in a cliff hanger.

Save your money for authors that actually give you a full story.
