Love Does shares powerful stories coupled with eye-opening truths and empowers anyone who longs for a better world and a richer faith. You don’t need another Christian message or a self-help book. You need to have your paradigms about the world shifted into truth. That’s exactly what you get in Love Does. Have you ever noticed that the real change in your life - the growth that sticks and becomes a part of you - never happens with a program or the sheer grit of your best efforts? It happens over time, like a glacier slowly carving valleys through the mountains. In this book of compelling stories paired with eye-opening truths, author Bob Goff shows you a new way to live, a way that’s drenched with the whimsy of God’s love and the spontaneity of following where He leads when He says “Go!” In this book, you learn what it looks like to be secretly incredible and advance God’s kingdom everywhere you are and wherever you’re going. For anyone who’s wanted to change the world but thought they needed money, a committee, and permission to get started, Love Does shows what can happen when you decide to do instead of plan, act instead of strategize, and fiercely, invisibly fight for the possibility God has gifted you to uniquely see.
An Absolute Gem!
I have the audio copy of this book and I am treasuring each chapter as I listen to Bob tell his stories. Each chapter on audio is about 15 minutes long - perfect for my commute.
What gem this book is! Simple, beautiful and inspiring all at once. I find myself alternately laughing out loud ("The Reach") and then crying at other moments because I literally feel Jesus whispering in my ear and telling me it's true - that he does love me and that he does want this type of amazing existence for me!
This book does something priceless in my mind - it brings me closer to and into a more deep and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
It also helps me evaluate my life and see the simple, everyday changes I can make in how I approach and view my time on this earth.
Most of all "Love Does" leaves me inspired and excited to start living out the purpose and the passion that God made me for!
Can't recommend this book enough!
This book is hilarious and eye opening. Each story is better than the last as it displays a love we've all felt in our souls but may not have the courage to live out. What an incredible individual whose insight and truly spontaneous nature lovingly displays the love of Christ. This man knows no boundaries when it comes to love as he jumps in head first and all in.
I listened to this while going through a hard time in my own life and one day this book was recommended by the Women of Faith email so I flippantly downloaded it and forgot about it. A few days ago and for lack of something else I flipped it on not exactly sure what I was getting in to and was immediately hooked. I was so hooked I've made other people listen to parts (and encouraged them to give the entire thing a listen), a treatment I usually reserve for comedians to share a good laugh. I've listened to chapters more than once to fully grasp these ideas that Bob puts out there about Christ's love and understanding love. I find myself laughing as I go on adventure after adventure with Bob Goff and family.
This is a guy and a family I'd love to live next door to just to hear what they are going to come up with next. This surfer/lawyer is refreshing with his funny stories and original analogies.
Bob, thank you for your boldness and spontaneous nature. You've reminded me we need a dash of whimsy in our lives, some fearlessness and an "I'm with you" nature to point others to the love of Christ. Your book reminded me life doesn't have to be so serious, so hurtful or so condemning. We can rise to the call of Christ and just simply Love the way we were intended to. Thanks again Bob, I do hope you will continue to write.
Want to feel good?
Then give it to a non-Christian friend. Great intro to a guy who loves Jesus and isn't a "bible thumper."
