In his New York Times best-selling memoir, A Work in Progress, Connor Franta shared his journey from small-town Midwestern boy to full-fledged Internet sensation. Exploring his past with humor and astounding insight, Connor reminded his fans of why they first fell in love with him on YouTube - and revealed to newcomers how he relates to his millions of dedicated followers. Now, two years later, Connor is ready to bring to light a side of himself he's rarely shown on or off camera. In this diary-like look at his life since A Work in Progress, Connor talks about his battles with clinical depression, social anxiety, self-love, and acceptance; his desire to maintain an authentic self in a world that values shares and likes over true connections; his struggles with love and loss; and his renewed efforts to be in the moment - with others and himself. Told through short essays, letters to his past and future selves, and poetry, Note to Self is a raw, in-the-moment look at the fascinating interior life of a young creator turning inward in order to move forward.
You have learned so much from your last book. You've made me feel emotionally attached to you throughout this adventure. I listen to your emotions and your passion that presents this breathtaking book, and it feels real, raw, and just inspiring. Your pain, your experiences, your expectations (from personal experience) are extremely difficult to express in a manner that is paper and print; but somehow you've pulled it off in an exquisite format that I can't begin to comprehend, though I do. Your only 24 and you've already taught me more in these three and a half hours, than I've been taught in my thirteen years. And although I know you probably won't read this rant that I've written, I'd just like to say thank you. I could tell through the videos that you've made since the last book, you seemed to slowly get more broken. I was hoping that you weren't keeping any secrets from your viewers/readers (myself included), and you were. You were keeping your most crushing and depressing secrets and thoughts to yourself. This book is truly 'A Note To Self', but it's also a note to everyone else. The 'Note' is to not hold back, it won't get you far. It'll just brake you until you scream out your pain and sorrow whether it be on paper, or in person. To anyone who is reading this, take Connor's advice, when it gets dark, open a curtain. And slowly state your feelings to the world, but not before stating them to yourself. Thank you again Connor Franta, you've shown the world more of your emotions, in one book, than most people do in a lifetime. You are a true blessing, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
