"My name is Kvothe. I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I have burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during the day. I have talked to God's, loved women and written songs that make the minstrels weep. You may have heard of me." So begins a tale unequaled in fantasy literature - the story of a hero told in his own voice. It is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.
This is by far the most amazing book I have ever read! Rothfuss is astounding! If you haven't read this book, it should be next on your list and you'll be chomping at the bit for more! The Narator is good too, his voices are believable and I found myself sucked in as quickly as I was into the book. If you like Fantasy Literature, you will enjoy this amazing tale! I promise!!!
The Name of the Wind
Finally on audio! This has become my favorite book -- and the favorite of everyone to whom I've recommended. It is perfect fiction. Engaging, funny, 'couldn't put it down' greatness. Can't wait to listen to the audio version - I am so very happy that it is unabridged! Thank You Thank You! Congrats, Pat!
I was hooked at page 50. I haven't been this hooked on a book since weis and hickman. Although this book is different in a lot of way from most SFF books, the depth of emotions and passion in this book rivals any thing I have read in years. Rothfuss has wonderfully created a book to match Martin, and reach the sole of a character like goodkind without repeating himself or his ideas over and over. The book is great! The story is complexed, but easy to follow. The magic is well thought out and masterfully realistic. Hands down a powerful book.
