"What now, sister?" Tomas asked. "We kill Michael Talbot, his family, and his friends and then we rule the world," she said absently as she fingered the locket around her neck." In the latest installment of Mark Tufo's zombie fallout series, Mike Talbot and his family continue their fight for survival as Eliza plots their demise.
Major let down
I bought all 5 audiobooks in this series. They got progressively worse. Half of book five consists of afterthought flashbacks to earlier events in the main characters lives. They are far too involved and lend little to nothin to the story and character development.
Tudo obviously leaves the door open for a book six, but I for one am done with the series.
Not so great
I have also bought all 5 of this series and for the most part I enjoyed them. But what has bugged me is the off track story telling of past events, flashbacks, "college days" which I really have no interest in. In this book, there are at least two 15 minute backstory sections worth fast forwarding through. Some of the story suggests this may be dragged out through 2 or more books before the conclusion. It's beginning to feel like less of a story vs. a cash cow for the writer/publisher.
Otherwise I still enjoy the book, but I am 50/50 on buying the next one.
What the heck
After progressively learning to like Mike Talbot and his crew this one had me scratching my head. This book was painful. Getting stuck in some town with some excrutiating backstory that really didn't do anything except add to the horrible stint in the boring and bad town. Not sure if I even want to complete the story now. I agree this smells like trying to stretch out a good story that is starting to rot like the undead after a few years.
