A Band of Misfits

Tales of the 2010 San Francisco Giants

This book is available for download with iBooks on your Mac or iOS device, and with iTunes on your computer. Books can be read with iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

In 2010, the Giants were a fourth-place team at the All-Star break, and had completely overhauled their opening-day lineup during the season, signing players that nobody else wanted. Against all odds, this group of grinders and golden arms willed their way to an NL West-clinching victory on the last day of the season. Together, these screwball Giants accomplished something that so many greats and Hall of Fame players were never able to do: They hoisted the commissioner’s trophy in San Francisco, celebrating the city’s first World Series championship. This is the story of those zany characters, how they came together—and how they became legends forever in the city by the bay.

SF Giants Aren't Even My Favorite Team

Let me start by saying I'm a Mets fan. Since about the year 2000 (when I graduated high school) I have had MLB extra innings and loved watching the late start giants games in the NY area (them and LA). There was always something intriguing about SF though, from Bonds, to the 2001 WS run, to when I picked up "Timmy" for my fantasy baseball team during his rookie year (which put me over the top for a title) --- for all those reason, I did watch the Giants. Anyway, I decided to give this book a read, I was looking for any sports book, I can honestly say after reading a lot of sports books over the past year this is probably one of the best. I strongly suggest this book for ANY BASEBALL FAN (except Dodgers fans). This book is well written and very interesting the cast of players all of interesting stories and the author was able to put their personal stories along with the story of the season into one nicely written book. Great read....I hope you enjoy. And by the way, too bad they can't defend their title this year, great group of guys, I'm sure when they get Reyes, they'll be just fine.
